biography

THE RADIANT CITY, Lauren's latest novel was published by Harper Collins in March, 2005 and shortlisted for the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize.

THE STUBBORN SEASON, Lauren's first novel, was published by Harper Collins Canada in May, 2002. It was extensively and positively reviewed and became a bestseller in Canada. In January 2003 the HarperCollins Perennial Library paperback edition was released. The Stubborn Season was chosen by Robert Adams for his prestigious 2003-2004 Book Review Series.

Her collection of short stories, RAT MEDICINE AND OTHER UNLIKELY CURATIVES was published by Mosaic Press in 2000 and was received with enthusiastic reviews.

Lauren is the recipient of two Canadian Council for the Arts grants - 2000 and 2006.

Lauren was appointed Writer-in-Residence of Trinity Episcopalian Church, Princeton, New Jersey, in September 2007.

has taught fiction writing at the WICE (Paris), The American University of Paris, The Geneva Writers' Conference, and Seattle University's Writers' Conference in Allihies, Ireland.

has appeared on numerous television and radio programs and has been featured on BRAVO! television's program ARTS AND MINDS and TVO's program, IMPRINT.
Lauren's first novel, THE STUBBORN SEASON, was featured in Robert Adams's lecture series for 2003-2004 and televised on TVO.

has lectured on writing at Trent University, Humber College and The Paris Writers' Workshop, and has done numerous readings.

studied creative writing with the University of Indiana and Humber College Creative Writing Mentor Program (Toronto).

has been invited to appear at a number of literary festivals, among them The Lorenzo Festival (Saint John), The Thin Air Festival (Winnipeg), The Ottawa Writers' Festival, Blue Metropolis (Montreal), and the Walrus Bookshelf (Vancouver and Victoria).

lives in Princeton, New Jersey with her husband, Ron.
